i have often wondered at the wordings

It is impeccable poetry

But what does it conveys in todays context

Jan Gan Man Adhinayak Jai Hai ( The hero ,the common masses)
Bharat Bhagya Vidhata ( you decides the fate of India)

Punjab Sindh Gujarat, Maratha, Davin, Utka, Bang
Vidhya, Himacha, Yamuna Ganga, Ucchal Jal Dhitrang

( The People of Punjab, Sindh, Gujrat Maratha, Dravin, Utkal ,Bang,they flow as rivers from Vindhyachal,Himalaya and flow in unison)

Tab shubh name Jage, Tab shuh asish mange ( When they wake up, blessing flows)

Gaye Sab Jai Gatha ( The song of triumph is resonated)

Jan gan mangal dyak Jai Hai ( the common people, you bring glory, victory to you)
bahrat bhagya Vidhata ( you are the fate of India)

Jai hey, Jai Hey, Jai ,Jai ,Jai , Jai Hey

( Glory to you, Victory to you)

I wil put it together as a salute to Indian Democracy

The hero ,the common masses
you decides the fate of India
The People of Punjab, Sindh, Gujrat Maratha,
Dravin, Utkal ,Bang
,they flow as rivers from Vindhyachal,Himalaya
and flow in unison
When they wake up, blessing flows
The song of triumph is resonated
